Spring sales are underway!

It seems like yesterday that we were in the down time between Christmas and Denver, but that time has long come and gone. Now we are on to Spring sales very weekend!

After our first blog post, we had a successful bull sale hosted at Sunset View Farms. I’m sure by now everyone has checked out the sale report (www.parkelivestock.com). It was a beautiful day, which is very unusual for the Family Traditions Bull Sale. Typically, it is either snowing or raining. With the great weather that day though, it brought out a lot of local buyers looking for bulls to turn out with their cows. 67 Simmental and SimAngus bulls averaged $3,202 and sold to 12 different states. It is always great to have a solid average, but when breeders from multiple states purchase bulls to bring back to their programs, that is when you know you are effectively advertising and marketing your program. If you read our previous post you might have seen where we videoed about 27 bulls and placed them on YouTube. That was a big hit and will be used again for the upcoming female sale in April. Check out a few of the photos below from the sale. Congratulations to the Creek family and guest consignors on an awesome sale!

This past weekend we travelled to Louisville for the Kentucky Beef Expo. The Simmental events at the Beef Expo are always very strong and very successful. The sale is the largest sale hosted at the event. I am sure if you have been watching the news you have seen the devastating weather events that happened on Friday across Indiana and Kentucky. They were calling for severe weather on Friday just about the time of the Simmental sale cattle show. The show was stopped and delayed for a short amount of time while Kentucky Fair and Expo officials had breeders and spectators take shelter from the storm. Thankfully, the storm did not hit the fairgrounds. After given the all clear the show resumed. Jon Jordan of Knightstown, Indiana sorted the Simmental sale cattle show. Jordan stated, “This was an impressive, functional set of Simmental sale cattle ready to go to work.”
